Comprehensive Clinical Breast Evaluation Certification Program |
|
Program Overview
This certification program is designed to utilize standardization of Clinical Breast Examination Skills to accomplish CBE’s Paramount Objective (i.e. detection of any dominant breast mass, as another early detection tool to ultimately reduce breast cancer deaths). The standardization will be accomplished through an intensive review of Core Breast Knowledge, BSE Technique, Breast Oriented History, Performance of a Physical Breast Examination, Breast Imaging, Diagnostic Procedures with Breast Pathology, Follow-up Recommendations and Risk Management.
A thorough tactile skills laboratory and a CBE performance practice sessions will follow the CBE morning demonstration. Professionals seeking certification are asked to study the core knowledge section of the binder, prior to the program. This program will not include a core knowledge presentation as this should be mostly a review for licensed medical professionals. A question and answer period is provided to answer any questions on this material for clarification.
Certification is achieved when a score of 85% or better must is attained on all three examinations. One examination will cover the core knowledge contained in the program binder. The second examination will test the tactile skills for lump detection and the third test will require performance of an actual Clinical Breast Evaluation. Upon successful completion of the program, (i.e., scoring 85% on all three components of the examination) participants will be awarded the NCBC Clinical Breast Examination Certification. This will include a certificate, a beautiful gold NCBC CBEC® Pin and the ability of the participant to use the mark CBEC® to verify they have met all eligibility and testing requirements. Those certified will also be listed on the NCBC website. |
