Membership Development and Marketing Program

 

This committee markets the annual national conference and promotes the visibility of the organization, both to the membership and outside the NCBC.  It is also charged with increasing membership, maintaining fiscal solvency, evaluating and enhancing member services. 

 

Email Exchange Program

 

This program is charged with organizing the email questions and answers on the NCBC website, helps edit e-mail questions, evaluates the quality of the responsiveness of the email exchange program and collaborates with the Quality Initiative Committee to structure e-mails to promote the NCBC’s Quality Measures for Breast Centers™ Program. 

 

Corporate Liaison

 

This position involves interfacing and developing relationships with non-profit and for-profit corporations, promoting participation in the annual interdisciplinary conference by corporations, soliciting corporate sponsorship for the annual conference and interfacing with the Conference Program Committee. 

 

Organization Liaison Committee

 

This committee identifies other organizations involved in promoting breast health; reviews the vision statements, missions and goals of those organizations; identifies any organization that represents conflict and overlap with the mission statement, values and goals of the NCBC; and interfaces and develops relationships with non-profit organizations that do not represent a conflict with the NCBC.

 

Education, Quality and Research Division

 

Conference Program

 

This committee is responsible for designing the Annual National Interdisciplinary Breast Center Conference.  It interfaces with the Corporate Liaison for sponsorship and recruitment, recruits speakers to fulfill the requests of the membership, recruits interdisciplinary representation on the committee, decides on the recipient of the annual Impact Award given to an individual or organization who has had a significant impact on the general area of breast health and on the concept and development of breast centers, ensures that the Certified Breast Examination course is included in the Conference, works with other non-profit or corporate organizations to encourage their participation at the conference and oversees the development of the conference flyer.

 

Networking Task Force

 

This committee facilitates networking between new attendees at the NCBC annual meeting.  Members will strive to make new members welcome outside of the meeting as well, answering questions, and providing support.  It will also serve as an interface with the membership development and marketing committee to promote new members.

 

Abstract/Poster Task Force

 

Members of this committee recruit abstracts and posters for presentation at the Annual National Interdisciplinary Breast Center Conference, identify criteria for accepting abstracts/posters for display and/or presentation at the conference, arrange auditing and peer review for poster submissions for the conference and work with the Conference Program Committee

 

Grant Writing Task Force

 

This committee develops a pre-conference session to be presented at the annual national conference.  It will research and identify the most effective methods for grant writing, identify the most effective writing strategies and styles for a grant application, as well as develop the core components of a well-written grant proposal to be presented to session participants.

 

Newsletter Committee

 

Members of this committee are responsible for publishing monthly newsletters, exploring new ways to distribute and expand the newsletter, recruiting content regarding organizational membership, leadership, operations and activities, and working with the Membership Development and Marketing Program members to recruit advertising, sponsorship and revenue.

 

International Liaison Committee

 

This committee interfaces and develops relationships with breast centers outside the United States and promotes participation in the annual interdisciplinary conference from those breast centers.

 

Breast Navigation Certification Program

 

This committee is in charge of the development and management of the new Breast Navigation Certification Program.  Members help to develop definitions, activities, and competency standards for breast patient navigators.  It will help to put together a list of resources for breast patient navigators and their integrated breast patient navigator team members, as well as for patients being navigated through the process.  This committee will seek to further the goal of saving lives of woman diagnosed with breast cancer and ensure timely and efficient delivery of breast care/cancer services through quality and excellence in the navigation of a breast patient through their imaging and/or cancer care treatment.

 

National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Certification Program

 

This committee reviews current benchmarks of quality, determines which benchmarks are reasonably measured, establishes a peer-reviewed audit for breast centers and creates an accreditation program for breast centers.

 

Clinical Breast Examination Certification Program

 

This committee designs and implements a national clinical breast examination certification course bi-annually and establishes a peer-review team for the CBE course evaluation.

 

Breast Self Examination Certification Program

 

Members of this committee participate in the development and implementation of a national program to certify clinicians in breast self examination techniques, teach individuals who can train and provide educator status to lay people and train lay community members how to perform BSE, perform bi-annual evaluations of the contents of the course, and establish a peer-review team for the BSE course.

 

Organizational Division

 

Nominating Committee

 

This committee is charged with considering interdisciplinary representation, presenting a nominating slate to the board for consensus and presenting a nominating slate to the membership at the Annual National Interdisciplinary Breast Center Conference for approval.

 

Executive Committee

 

This committee consists of the President, the Immediate Past President, the President-Elect, the Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary, and has the authority to conduct business of the organization and make decisions to further the mission without the approval of the entire Board between Board meetings.

 

Past President’s Council

 

This council consists of all Past Presidents of the organization.  The President appoints the Chairman of the Past President's Council.  Their function is to review policies, make long-range plan suggestions and serve as advisors to the President.

 

Finance Committee

This committee provides oversight over the financial and accounting functions of the NCBC, recommend approval of the budget to the executive committee/board and reviews the financial impact of proposed programs and activities. It also provides advice to the executive committee/board.

 

Internal/External Policy and Bylaws Committee

 

This committee identifies public issues that may affect the NCBC, or on which the NCBC may be asked to given an opinion.  It serves as the recipient committee for inquiries from members on issues that have a public policy impact.  It is charged with formulating positions on public policy issues for review and action by the executive committee/board.  It also is responsible for issuing a report on Trustees and Advisor Commitments.
